How Does Cutera Laser Genesis Work?
The treatment is one of the photorejuvenation techniques that include intense pulse lights and photodynamic procedures. The purpose is to fix skin conditions and remove the effects of photoaging such as spots, wrinkles, and textures.
By using laser treatments, controlled wounds are created on the skin. This prompts the skin to produce new cells as its way of healing, thereby reversing the signs of photoaging to a certain extent by eliminating appearances of damage.
The device used in the treatment delivers small pinpoints of laser light to the skin. Hundreds and even thousands of pinpoints may be used per square inch of the skin. This leaves healthy skin untreated between the ablated areas, allowing for rapid healing and lower risks.

Aftercare for Cutera Laser Genesis Treatments
We are experienced in treating patients using Cutera Laser Genesis throughout the Gippsland area. Our patients report only mild redness after treatment, which is a completely normal reaction. This effect will immediately subside and disappear within 24 hours. There is a little discomfort to be experienced, but nothing of the treatment is in any way painful.
With this minimal reaction to the treatment, you can go back to work and resume normal daily routine right after the procedure. However, we do recommend the following post-treatment care to ensure you enjoy the benefits of your laser treatment:
- If your skin is still feeling warm after treatment, use ice on the affected area to cool the skin.
- Avoid applying soap directly to the affected area if the skin is still red.
- Avoid rubbing your face in the first few days post-treatment.
- Avoid direct exposure to the sun.
Use sunscreens with SPF 50+. - Avoid tanning beds for at least 10-15 days post-treatment.
Cutera Laser Genesis – Frequently Asked Questions
What areas can be treated using Cutera Laser Genesis?
The Cutera Laser Genesis treatment is used to treat skin on areas around your face, neck and décolletage.
Can Cutera Genesis Laser help with my rosacea?
Rosacea is a skin condition which unfortunately doesn’t go away in a hurry. For our patients that we treat, this normally affects the face; particularly areas around the nose, forehead, and across the cheeks.
Our laser treatments are a great way to gently soothe and reduce redness, leaving your complexion softer and skin less irritated.
What does the Cutera laser procedure feel like?
Nothing much is felt except for some tingling sensation on the area under treatment. Most patients actually say that it feels therapeutic and relaxing. The laser light generally feels warm on the skin.
What do I do to prepare for my Cutera laser treatment?
Prior to the treatment, you will not be asked to bring gel or anesthetic cream since the procedure is not painful at all. In some cases, the practitioner will require shaving of the area to be treated and removal of make-up or substances such as moisturisers.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
You will start to notice a difference straight away. However, on average we generally recommend around four to six sessions to restore the skin back to good health.
