How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Cosmetic fillers are used to add volume to different areas of the face and neck, by being injected into the dermal layers of the skin. With skillful application, they are designed to plump the skin and replace lost volume that can cause sagging.
Common areas that we treat with dermal fillers are:
- Adding contouring to the cheeks
- Chin sculpting through adding volume to your chin
- Reducing crow’s feet around the eyes
- Reducing acne scarring and pitting
- Reducing scarring from burns and wounds etc.
- Improving smile lines between the nose and mouth
Dermal fillers can also be used as a preventative measure for anti-aging treatments to maintain embedding wrinkles. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and a rejuvenation plan is used only when needed.
Aftercare for Dermal Filler Treatments
Our Gippsland-based staff are skilled in assessing and administering cosmetic injectables across different areas of the face and neck. We have helped clients add volume and definition to their face, restoring their youthful appearance and confidence.
Unlike surgery, our dermal fillers are non-invasive. However, we do use a local anesthetic to minimise any discomfort that you may experience.
During the first few hours, you will likely experience some mild redness and swelling. This is completely normal and will subside in a few hours following the treatment. You may also use a mild over-the-counter pain relief if you do experience any discomfort once the effects of the anesthetic wear off.
Whilst the process is nice and simple, we do recommend some post-treatment care which will help provide the best results for your treatment and keep you nice and comfortable afterwards.
Here are our simple tips:
- Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours leading up to, and on the day of the procedure.
- Remain upright as much as you can for at least 4 hours following the procedure.
- Do not apply makeup around the treated area for at least 12 hours following the procedure. If you do use makeup, then use a light, mineral-based powder.
- Do not rub or massage the treated area for at least 12 hours following the procedure.
- Avoid exercise or excessive exertion for at least 24 hour following treatment.
- And avoid excessive heat (e.g. sauna) and sun for at least 24 hours following treatment.
We recommend a follow-up consultation 2 weeks following your dermal filler treatment. We will arrange the follow-up appointment with you at the time of your treatment.
