How Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Work?
Cosmetic injectables work by relaxing these muscles and restricting their movement. This causes the softening appearance of your facial muscles, and it also helps to prevent future facial expressions leading to even more lines and wrinkles.
Contrary to some beliefs, the goal of this treatment is not to paralyse your face! Muscle relaxant injections are merely to softly relax those muscles back to their natural state. Your face is left feeling rejuvenated for a more youthful appearance.
Anti wrinkle injections are suitable for both men and women. However, we do not recommend this type of treatment to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Aftercare for Anti-Wrinkle Injection Treatments
Our anti-wrinkle injections are non-invasive and most people find the process relatively pain-free. It is a similar feeling to a light sting, or mosquito bite. For the first few hours following treatment, you will likely see some small bumps and injection marks. You may also experience a small amount of bruising or swelling around the area, and possibly a mild headache. These are completely normal side-effects and nothing to worry about. If you do experience these symptoms, then taking a mild over-the-counter pain relief will be more than sufficient.
Whilst the process is nice and simple, we do recommend some post-treatment care which will help provide the best results for your treatment and keep you nice and comfortable afterwards.
Here are our simple tips:
- Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours leading up to, and on the day of the procedure.
- Remain upright as much as you can for at least 4 hours following the procedure.
- Do not apply makeup around the treated area for at least 12 hours following the procedure. If you do use makeup, then use a light, mineral-based powder.
- Do not rub or massage the treated area for at least 12 hours following the procedure.
- Avoid exercise or excessive exertion for at least 24 hour following treatment.
- And avoid excessive heat (e.g. sauna) and sun for at least 24 hours following treatment.
We recommend a follow up consultation 2 weeks following your anti-wrinkle treatment. This is so we can assess your skin’s improvement, and arrange any necessary top-ups. We will arrange the follow-up appointment with you at the time of your treatment.

Any side effects that you may experience are rare, and generally small in nature. It is common to experience some redness and small amounts of swelling around the injection marks. This will typically resolve in a few hours.
Other people may experience small headaches and bruising. This can be managed by using mind over-the-counter painkillers. If symptoms are excessive and not resolving, then we would recommend you visit your GP.
Can I combine my anti-wrinkle treatments with other treatment types?
Anti-wrinkle treatments can be combined safely with dermal filler applications to achieve amazing results. If you are interested in combining treatments, then we can discuss this in your consultation.
How long do anti-wrinkle treatments take?
Typically these treatments take no longer than 15 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Does the treatment hurt?
Our staff are fully-qualified nurses who are experienced in providing careful administration of injections. We use a very fine needle just below the surface of the skin. Most people express they don’t feel any pain, but you will feel a small pin-prick or slight sting. This only lasts a few seconds.
What brand do you use for your anti-wrinkle injectable?
We use an anti-wrinkle injectable which is designed as a muscle relaxant to reduce lines and wrinkles around the face and neck. We are unable to disclose the brand that we use due to Australian regulations. However we can discuss this during your consultation with us. What we can say though is that we only source quality products that provide better and longer-lasting results.
